The Merger Assembly held at St. Agnes’ Loreto Day School was a heartfelt celebration marking the historic union of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM) and the Congregation of Jesus (CJ)—two branches of the same Mary Ward family now coming together as one. The assembly beautifully captured the spirit of unity, gratitude, and shared mission that lies at the heart of this merger.
The programme began with a vibrant dance drama depicting the inspiring life and mission of Mary Ward. This was followed by a solemn prayer service and a graceful prayer dance, invoking God’s blessings and expressing the joy of unity. A soulful hymn by the school choir added to the atmosphere of devotion, while an informative PowerPoint presentation highlighted the history of the two congregations, their common roots, and the significance of their merger.
The assembly concluded with prayers, reflections and the erudite words of Sr. Balika and Miss Bunny, principal of the school, as the school community reaffirmed its commitment to continue walking in the footsteps of Mary Ward—“Women in time, who will do much.” The Merger Assembly was not only a celebration of unity but also a reaffirmation of the school’s mission to nurture faith, courage, and compassion in the spirit of Mary Ward.
