This highly anticipated gathering brought together over 40 IBVM and CJ schools from India and Nepal, creating an inspiring atmosphere of collaboration and purpose. The event was graced by the presence of several esteemed sisters, including Sister Sabrina, Province Leader of JPIC South Asia, Sister Nithya, JPIC UN Representative from India, Sister Smitha, JPIC UN Representative from Nepal, along with Sister Beatriz Stuart, Sister Amia Tete, Sister Initha and Sister Priyanka Topno, all of whom are a part of the Province Leadership Team. The host school extended a grand and heartfelt welcome to the sisters and animators, setting a warm and vibrant tone for the gathering. The opening ceremony featured Mr. Poonabalam I.A.S., District Magistrate of Asansol, as the chief guest. In his address, he warmly welcomed everyone to the ‘City of Brotherhood’, a city renowned for its unity in diversity. Following this, Sister Sabrina officially declared the meet open. The meet commenced with video presentations from all participating schools, showcasing their remarkable initiatives and achievements over the past two years. The keynote speaker, Mr. Maulana Imamdullah Rashidi, delivered a deeply moving address that left an indelible impression on the audience. Drawing from his personal experiences, he spoke about harmony, humanity and the art of forgiveness. Emphasizing the importance of unity in a fractured world, he urged everyone to contribute to a more compassionate society through small yet meaningful actions. Following this was a session led by 12-year-old environmental advocate, Aarna Srivastava, who focused on the issue of combating plastic pollution, with an emphasis on actionable solutions. Her call to action was met with enthusiasm as delegates were divided into groups to brainstorm innovative solutions to tackle this pressing issue. The collaborative efforts culminated in a series of creative and practical ideas shared with the gathering. Day 2 centered around the theme of inclusivity, the cornerstone of this year’s meet. Facilitated by Mr. Sumit Bandopadhyay, the interactive session featured engaging games and activities that highlighted key values essential for fostering inclusivity. Delegates were encouraged to embrace self-reflection, develop optimism, help those in need and prioritize equity over equality. Through these activities, Mr. Bandopadhyay effectively demonstrated how inclusivity builds a more compassionate and fair society. The final day showcased the delegates’ creativity and commitment to addressing social issues through powerful group performances. Each group shed light on critical topics such as bullying, objectification, toxic feminism, the reality of imperfection, inclusivity for disabled individuals and the queer community, the struggles of men in classical dance and more. The 7th JPIC General Meet concluded with the declaration of the goal for the next three years: promoting good health and well-being.
