Description: The magnificently long-established Inter-School competitions hosted by St. Agnes’ Loreto Day School, AD ASTRA, a three day fiesta, commenced on the 29th of July, 2024, with a solemn opening ceremony that set a tone of grandeur and reverence. The event was graced by Sister Amia, Superior, Loreto Lucknow, Miss Bunny, Principal of the school, Sister Anima, Principal of Loreto Convent, the chief guest for the event, Miss Charmaine Fanthome, judges for various competitions and other dignitaries, teachers and students. The event commenced with the ceremonious lighting of lamp, followed by the hoisting of the school flags. A captivating trailer encompassing the introduction of the various clubs was unveiled followed by heartfelt a prayer and a melodious hymn, seeking blessings of the Almighty. The events lined up for the day included four on-stage events and three off-stage events as part of Boulevard, organized by the Literary Club and one off-stage event organised by the Photography Club. Among the off-stage events was the preliminary round of debate, where participants got the opportunity to engage in invigorating dialogue. The next off-stage event was Alchemy of Poetry, in which students celebrated the art of poetry, weaving words into poetic creations. Simultaneously, Comic Strip was conducted, in which students brought color to their imagination and illustrated their unique comic strips. Parallely, Grandeur Cine Productions took place, harbouring the ethos of visual art through a camera's lens. The first on-stage competition was Dramatis Personae, which transported students into a multiverse of characters and stories. Students displayed their acting prowess, bringing in a diverse array of narratives. This was followed by Mock Trial. In this gripping competition, students embodied various characters against whom a set of allegations were placed. The participants demonstrated their analytical and rhetorical skills. The next event was Extempore, which challenged students to think on their feet and deliver impromptu speeches, seeking reference from thought-provoking images presented to them. The last onstage competition was the final round of debate, giving platform to the students to engage in constructive discourse. The first day of Ad Astra was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among schools. Students indeed reached the zenith of their creative potential.
